My original comment / complaint was NOT that I can't determine which DVR a program is recorded on. My comment was that unless you set the DVR to "ALL DEVICES" you can NOT even see the "Great Performances" programs listed, so obviously can't watch any of them.
I just re-verified that the Great Performances (The Sound of Music) which was broadcast last night, does NOT show up on either DVR unless the option "ALL DEVICES" is selected.
(It's not a confusion factor. It's a software bug in Contour 2.)

Yes john2222, there is definitely a Contour2 RecordedOn bug! At least you can watch if you set to "All". For me, shows appear under either Family or Media and All. I find I can watch on my Media rm TV, shows that may appear under the 3...however, the other DVR does not show the same listing. It's like the 3 items are just filters for storage, but not an indicator of physically where files are stored.
Again, my big issue is Where the files are physically stored and can I not control where they go. There needs to be a way to make each DVR invisible from each other like the old system...if you so choose. This was available on Contour1. https://www.cox.com/residential/support/changing-the-visibility-of-a-dvr.html See item 6
When you get a chance, try recording different shows from both DVR. The Schedule will park each show under one or the other RecordedOn col. Wait till after record and see how they are identified under Recorded and look on each separate DVR and watch.
I'm trying to get some interest in this thread by posting, however, no one else seems to care or actually see a problem. except for a multiple DVR house, like us. Cox was going to peek at issue.

This option provides the ability to filter recordings that have been set from a specific device. Selecting a device from the list will filter all recordings to show only the ones that were set from that device. “All Devices” is the default option and will display all recordings. The “Recorded On” filter only applies to the Saved > Recordings and Saved > Scheduled. Please note that recordings set prior to the implementation of the "Recorded On" filter will only be displayed under the "All Devices" option. Series recordings will have to be rescheduled for the recordings to be listed under a specific device. I hope this helps! -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator

Becky....At Last, a hint of information...Thanks a bunch. "have been set from a specific device" implies that if you have each separate DVR identified, that making a Save recording from that specific DVR will place the actual recording onto that machine. That is way better than the occasional Random device we got the last couple of weeks. I currently see some old recorded shows appearing on the "other named device" but I will clear these out. I will also clear the "priority table (not sure how things get into this list), and maybe Re-boot the DVR.
I'm guessing that the 2 DVRs still see each other, because the RecordedOn show 'All, 'Family, 'Office (I changed this from Media to see what happens, and booted DVR). Also, the Scheduled column on Both DVR's shows an actual Family Rm's scheduled recording that was submitted from that other machine this morning.
However, since my 2DVR are not a Host/client, I'm guessing that I cannot really view or record on the one machine while accessing the records from the other. Also, if I exceed the 2 record max, there will Not be a roll-over to the other. Basically, I will not be able to play recordings stored on the other DVR, like a client viewing a host stored shows.
One way to totally make the machines independent would have been to "Hide" the machines from each other...a feature that you apparently had with the Contour1 setup but not on Contour2, multiple DVR's....But, if records from specific machines truly are keeps on the recorded DVR, that would be a start...will see after some test records
