Web mail missing??

I was just logging into the web mail earlier today.  At one point, all was present then I went from just over 300mb to 22mb???.  Most or almost all of my email just vanished.  None were deleted since the trash folder was empty.  Was there a system crash?  Is there any explanation as to what happened and the possibilities of getting my email back since I did not delete them.  For as long as I have been using cox mail and this is many years, I never had problems like this until now.

is webmail your primary viewing source or are you using a 3rd party like outlook, email client, etc?

webmail is imap & will remain there until another pop3 device downloads email from the server.

Email has been downloaded to a Windows 7 computer using Windows Live mail.  Pop3 is the configuration.  Is there any possibility that any email that is deleted from Windows Live mail will also automatically remove it from webmail without putting it in the trash can?

I may have solved the mystery.  I was not even thinking about the pop3 configuration when my wife was cleaning up the email on the Windows 7 computer that will soon be retired (ouch).  I performed a test delete and sure enough, email removed from the Windows 7 computer was also removed from webmail.

all my devices, except primary pc/pop3, are setup imap in case i check email while traveling on phones or laptop.

imap deletes the junk & when i return home what i wanted feeds in & there until deleted.

fwiw: we have a getawayfromtheheatinaz that has comcast tv/internet....i can see email on my primary cox acc't but can't send while using comcast server.
