unstable internet connection

Hello! Im a COX user for a long time and have unstable internet connection for a while now.

When I work from home and connected to VPN it disconnect/reconnects all the time with 30min-1hour period. But i clearly noticed problems when I started playing online games (i.e Counter Strike 2.0). My ping jumps from normal 20-30 to 100-150 and it makes my gaming session impossible due to high ping.. I tried different time for games but result is the same. please help me to figure out the solution. Thanks

    What model modem and router do you have and how do you have the VPN setup. Like on the router or individual devices? Do you have the problem with the VPN disabled?

    Next, does this effect wired and wireless devices? If wired, try running a tracert to the CS server you are playing on. Type status in the game's console and it should give you the IP you are playing on. If the problem is more intermittent, try Pingplotter.
