told to buy unnecessary cable modem

Hello Cox

I am a new customer and was told by the Cox online chat agent that i need a cable modem from the Cox Certified Modem list to get internet service at my address.

I purchased one of the $300+ certified modems only to be later told by Cox that my house is wired for fiber and I don't need the modem. 

I'm sure there is something that can be done to compensate for this mess up and my waste of time and money.

I'll be waiting to see if Cox customer service is any better than the other cable providers like Comcast.
