Do you guys just have named Ai running your forums? I’ve never seen you guys say anything but copied and pasted paragraphs to literally ANY issue. Does cox care at all about the people that keep the company afloat or is it just a corner to cut and save money by doing that?

  • They swindled me into the 1gb plan yesterday. This morning I was getting 30mbps. it is no faster than the 500mbps plan I had before. The upload speed is over 100mbps which I thought was weird. They led me to believe that I was going to get fiber. When I got off the phone I was wondering why he did not send a tech to the house and change the wiring. Called Cox back and asked why and was told that in my area the fiber runs to a main hub and then changes the signal and uses coax cable to connect each house. The fiber service going to the house is not avaible in my area at this time. I think that is their issue (the signal conversion). Alot of people in my area have complained about the speed dropping off. Whats bad is that I had a appointment with ATT to come out and give me real fiber but now Im stuck in a contract for 2 years with this cox garbage.

Same as above, do you have a computer connected via ethernet? if so, what are the speeds on it, compared to the WiFi devices?

Make sure your ethernet connected computer if it has WiFi, that the WiFi is disabled.

  • Hi richarddeanw19,

This is most troubling to hear.  Please feel free to reach out to us on Twitter at @CoxHelp, visit us on Facebook, or email at cox.help@cox.com.  If you just added a service agreement, there may be time to make changes if you are still in the trial period.  Feel free to send us your account details to either outlet.

Do you have a computer connected via Ethernet? If so, does it run ok, or do you have the same issues with it? I would certainly if you haven't already, connect a computer via ethernet and ensure the WiFi on that computer is off, and then test the speeds. If there is a drastic difference, it's possible that the WiFi is being affected by some kind of emf or rf interference, and I can provide you some information to help address that.

If it's the internet itself, there are still some things I can walk you through that may either help address it, or narrow the issue down so we can get COX to properly address the problem and resolve it for you.
