Panoramic WiFi Router Needs a Guest Login Option

Adding my opinion to the long list of ignored requests previously mentioned on this forum.  It is standard on most other wifi router hardware to offer the ability to setup up a limited access Guest Wifi.  If you need to know why this is essential then you are probably in big trouble security wise.  For sure COX knows, understands and has decided to ignore the issue.  Get your act together COX and take care of your customers.

Cox licenses the Panoramic(xFI) platform from Comcast. The hardware that was used for the guest network was changed to broadcast the CoxWifi hotspot. This makes any changes unlikely, not only because Cox doesn't decide how the platform is designed, but because the CoxWifi hotspot is used by Cox mobile cell phones to move some of the traffic to Cox's network(via wifi calling) and not Verizon's cellular network. If you want a guest wifi, buy your own router. If you need to know why using your own router is better, you are probably in big trouble security wise.

I was completely content with my own router ********.  Cox threatened to double my rate unless I took their newest deal that required me to install their router.

Why am I the **bleep**? I don't work for Cox. I don't make their rules. All I can do is tell you the reality of the situation. You presented a problem, no guest wifi, and I gave you a solution, use your own router. If Cox is giving you push back, switch to a different ISP. Either way though, I don't suggest using the ISP's hardware. Not only does using their hardware cost you money(usually), but it gives you less features/performance, you have no control over what the firmware is or when it's updated, but since the platform are used by so many on different ISPs in different countries, it becomes a huge target for bad guys because the same attack/vulnerability can get you into more systems.

PS. To the moderators, why is it OK to say the A word but not A word with hole in it?

Actually, the Guest network capability was removed, and used for WiFi cable boxes, not the hotspot. Hotspot was always part of the software, but the guest network, that was taken away to be used for WiFi Cable Boxes.

Interesting. I was going by what I heard someone say on Reddit, from someone who said they were a Cox employee. Also it made sense because the guest SSID was lost around the same time as they started to broadcast CoxWifi. Not saying you are wrong, but what data are you going off? Also, does that mean it has 3 ways to separate data? The data for customer internet, the data for CoxWifi, and the data for cable boxes? How does the system track the customers data and not the other 2? VLAN?
