Linksys CM3008

This cable modem runs quite hot, is that normal?

After a rather intense lightning storm nearby, I have been unable to connect to the internet after resetting the modem a number of times.

My router and computer do not see a connection to the ethernet out from the modem.

I am assuming the cable modem is at fault.

Opinions? Suggestions?

A hot modem doesn't sound normal.  You can review its status and logs at your local address:  http://192.168.100.1

  • Hi Standekansas. If neither the router nor your computer sees an ethernet connection after resetting the modem before connecting them and you have tried different ethernet cables, it may be an issue with the modem and will need to be replaced. Also, some modems do run hot. If you need additional assistance, please contact us via email at cox.help@cox.com. Please include your name, complete address and description of the issue and we will be glad to assist you. Thanks, Lisa - Cox Support Forums Moderator
