Ivanti secure access client and port forwarding

I use Ivanti secure access VPN for my work computer. Cox support has previously helped me setup a port forwarding to allow my VPN to connect over my panoramic wifi router.

I got a new computer. the old port forwarding doesn't work, naturally. I tried setting up a port forward myself using the app, but that's not working either.

chat support is unable to set up the port forward for me.

Is there someone here who can help?

I don't think Cox supports port forwarding. I am not sure they ever have from a Tier 1 level so you must have been working with someone going above and beyond. I have heard some people can't even set up port forwarding via the app. Are you getting a error when you try? Also, did you delete the old rule? Have you tested with a port scanning website? What exactly isn't working?

You will need Cox Complete Care, port forwarding is an advanced support that Cox itself doesn't support, but is supported by the fee based Cox Complete Care.

What I don't understand is why port forwarding is needed. Don't most VPN use IPsec which is compatible with most/all routers? I can see the need to open a port in the firewall, but why do you need to forward it? Not a expert though.

It SHOULD be, however, if the connections is being made from outside in, then port forwarding would be necessary.
