IP Blacklisted

I checked my IP at mxtoolbox (dot) com due to not receiving authorization codes for other services. Mxtoolbox says my IPv4 address is blacklisted by Spamhaus Zen (IPv6 is not blacklisted). The reasons given are:

  • CBL - You have contracted a virus or malware that is operating a botnet, either on your email server on a workstation behind the NAT - Continual delisting requests without eliminating the virus will result in permanent blacklisting
  • XBL - (Spamhaus Exploits Block List) is a real-time database of IP addresses of hijacked PCs infected by illegal 3rd-party exploits, including open proxies
  • PBL - Spamhaus PBL is a DNSBL database of end-user IP address ranges that should not be delivering unauthenticated SMTP email to any Internet mail server except those provided for specifically by an ISP for that customer's use.

None of this applies to me. I have contacted support and they are saying everything is fine on there end but clearly it is NOT because the original issue (receiving authorization codes from various websites).

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this as Cox support is worthless?

  • The blacklist you’re referring to has no impact on your ability to receive email. The impact of that black list is being unable to host your own email server at home to send mail from it. This was done decades ago to combat spammers during the early internet.

  • Hi, ceebee123
I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble receiving authorization codes for other services. I tried to locate your account using the credentials you registered for forums with so I could gather more information about what's happening, but was unsuccessful. Most services that require authentication with a code will provide the option to receive such codes via text, email, or phone call. I'm curious to know on what service you are having trouble receiving codes and if the receiving of all codes is impacted. This information may help our community members better troubleshoot what is happening.
