Internet set-up cost

I bought a new home in Arkansas that didn’t have any internet so I could work from home. So, after numerous calls and being told no, Cox finally came through. But I also had to pay $4000 dollars to get it to my house. Now mind you, my neighbors had Cox, and the neighborhood is set up like any growing neighborhood, lots close together.  Once I balked about the price, I was told by a local rep that some people pay $10,000! I didn’t feel lucky. Now, 3 years later, my new Nextdoor neighbor was getting Cox internet installed for $100 bucks. I tried clarifying with the company and was told that every installation cost is different. SERIOUSLY? So I asked- Its my fault for needing internet to work, and I should have waited 3 years?  Wait for someone else to get it closer to my house? The connection wasn’t miles…I’m not a property developer- why did I have to pay $4000?

  • Hello. I do understand your concern and confusion over why you had to pay a larger fee then your neighbor. I can assure you that we want to make internet installs as convenient and affordable as possible. Circumstances will dictate cost. Most of the time it will work in your favor and other times it may not. It can be very expensive to run lines and create new nodes. The cost for this can fluctuate when services are being requested in areas where there is no internet infrastructure. I know this does not help your situation but I hope we were able to shine some light on the matter. If you'd like to discuss further, please email us your “full” name, “complete” address, and a copy of your post to Cox.Help@cox.com for further assistance. Thank you!

Yeah, the difference between $4000 and $100 is definitely larger. So basically you are saying, waiting 3 years to buy means i could have been the one to pay for $100 for install. My mistake.
