Getting error trying to activate and download McAfee Cox Security Suite

I've seen this error reported on this site a few times. I've never seen a resolution. Similar to what was reported previously I'm getting the same errors. 

Here's my situation.  I downloaded the Cox McAfee software several years ago. Everything worked fine. Recently I decided to clean up my desktop computer as it was running slow.  I kept all the data files but removed all programs, including Cox McAfee.

I then tried downloading it again on my cleaned-up desktop (running Windows 10). I logged on using my primary userid. Confirmed by support. I followed all the instructions and go to the "Activate" page. When I clicked on "Activate" I get an error that they are unable to activate my account.  Support checked my account and everything looks good. Support then had me call a special McAfee support number.  I called and they said there was nothing wrong on their end and that they could not find a valid record on their end and that the problem was in my account and to call COX back.

I'll try that once again but have little home that I'll get this fixed in the near term.

  • JRIC, When was the last time you attempted to activate? We've been doing maintenance on cox.com at different times of the day over the last few days, which could have affected your ability to activate the Cox Security Suite. I'm not showing any new site maintenance happening right now so please try again. If you haven't already, please try a different browser to rule out any browser compatibility issues.       I just tried again using CHROME and BING.  Received same error. I'll email cox.help with requested information.
