Frequent internet outages

For two years, I had Cox internet with perhaps one or maybe two outages. Now my internet is going down at least twice per week sometimes several times per day. There are several people in my neighborhood who are experiencing the same thing. I feel that this problem needs to be resolved or Cox needs to offer some steep discounts. Some of us depend on the internet for livelihood. We understand that there will be the occasional outage related to weather or construction but this is ridiculous.

Please help us to understand what is going on and let us know if we need to switch to a more reliable provider.

    I have the exact same problem and now it is affecting my COX alarm because if i disable it and the modem is down I get a call and the police are called. I talked to people at work and 3 out of 4 of them are experiencing the same problem. Of course to fix it just unplug your modem for a minute, but now I am having to do it a couple times a day!!!!!

      Hi RETOSCS, you shouldn't have to power cycle your modem multiple times a day. Are there any splitters on the coax connection to your modem? A dying splitter would cause the symptoms you described. You can pick up a replacement splitter at any retailer. If this doesn't resolve the issue, a service call might be necessary. -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator
