Exponential increase in spam emails

I have seen an exponential increase in spam, continuing to grow, since the transition to Yahoo Mail.  I am quite unhappy with it.  To be honest, coxmail has been a primary reason I have stayed with Cox for internet as I didn't want to change my email address, even though other parties offer lower costs.  However this ever increasing volume of spam mail is daunting.  Nov 30th I had 11 of 16 emails that were spam.  This is an example of the daily challenges.  Even if they go to Spam folder, you must still vet them all in case it's not spam.  Yahoo is so well known and so widespread that nefarious parties deliberately troll it to much success.  Coxmail was much less likely to be found and exploited and I did not have nearly the level of problems.  Does Cox have any plans to remedy this situation and/or return us to a smaller, less obvious platform?  And please don't tell me I should upgrade to the paid service.  I had better service with Coxmail and it was included in my internet cost without having to pay more.  And just FYI, the verification email from you for me to make this post went to the Spam box!

  • Cox doesn't own cox.net email domain anymore, so they literally can do nothing to help. It's not like Cox will buy the domain back or transfer it to anyone else. They have washed their hands of the situation. 

    I suggest finding a new email provider. There are many free options like Gmail. Proton, iCloud mail, Outlook.com and so on. You can keep the cox.net email now even if you cancel Cox(since it no longer has anything to do with Cox) so you can set up rules to forward all new email to the new provider and slowly start telling people your new email address. It's really not a good idea to use the email service of ANY ISP. Not only are they usually subpar but they make you dependent on staying with the ISP.

        Good catch. I forgot Yahoo charges for forwarding. Cox used to do it for free. You could even set up a vacation message that would tell people your new email address. I guess now the only option is to set up a rule/filter in a email client like Thunderbird or Outlook. I think Yahoo charges people to forward so you have to use their service. That's also why they make using email clients harder, so you have to go to their website, which gives them ad revenue. Not a fan of Yahoo.
