Email Switch to Yahoo and Outlook

Unable to connect Outlook using POP or IMAP instructions for Yahoo Mail.  It appears Yahoo is not set up for Outlook to connect our Cox.net email accounts to their POP or IMAP servers (pop.mail.yahoo.com or imap.mail.yahoo.com).   Suspect the servers are rejecting anything that isn't a yahoo.com extension.  One would of thought Yahoo would have planned for this ahead of time for the Cox.net extensions.  When I was able to talk with a person, their suggestion was to wait 24 hrs. and try again.  i.e. trying too soon after the switch

The switch to Yahoo mail is anything but good.  Since switching, about half the time Yahoo is not available and/or takes repeated logins.  Yahoo's AI chat bot (AKA Help) is not set up to be much assistance to those with a Cox.net extension.  Yahoo wants you to pay for premium service to resolve all but the very basic issues.   Always referring you to a tutorial on Yahoo's help page.... which most have already looked at before starting a chat.

    Horrible.

I cannot link my new cox account with Yahoo to my Gmail account on my desktop. THis is my most annoying problem becasue I don't want to check 2 accounts.  I would appreciate any help on that front.

I could not get the Yahoo mail app to work on my android phone.   I did manage to get my cox mail through Gmail on my phone and tablet.  Both Android.  But I can't use Gmailify.

I was on the phone with Yahoo for 30 minutes but the person couldn't provide any advice on why the Yahoo app was not woriking.  Then we got cut off and she never called me back.

The ultimate solution is to switch all my cox mail to gmail but that is very hard since I have had my cox mail forever.

Same problem. I'm on a Pixel (latest Android, latest Outlook). I tried doing this in Gmail and it took seconds, but the Outlook setup won't take the ID and PW (and probably because of the cox.net and Yahoo.com difference).

I have the same question.  Outlook assumes I want to connect to a cox server and not Yahoo because of my cox.net email address.  There seems to be no way to change this.  My apple devices do not have this problem however.

OK I finally got it to work.  The key was to create a new account and manually enter the yahoo mail server settings.   I also had Yahoo create a one-time outlook app password.  I ended with an account called "myname.cox.net(1)"  but I can fix that.  Some of the suggestions I tried following were confusing because there are different variants of Outlook in use.  I have the enterprise version of Outlook 365.

Now I just have to merge my old .pst file so I can recover my old address book.

"Create a new account" where? Please be more specific in your instructions. I tried adding a new account in Outlook 2019 called "<myname>.cox.net@yahoo.com" but when trying to configure, Outlook would not accept the app password I created in Yahoo; Outlook kept coming up with the window asking for my credentials. I also tried a new account in Yahoo, in case that is what you meant, but you cannot have two (.) periods in an account name. Could you please be a little more specific about what I need to do. BTW, I do have a different 100% Yahoo email account and I can connect that to Outlook with no problem using an app password. Thanks. Mark.

If you are on a pc, you can go into the control panel then mail and make changes to the server settings.  I tried two different email accounts, one IMAP the other a POP Cox account, but changing the server settings to the Yahoo servers didn't help.  I still would not connect.

What if you use the yahoo mail app to login?  Enter username and password, then it will have you update your password. When I set mine up  thought it failed, but hours later it worked.

I am having the same issue with Mail on my Macbook.  I've deleted, re-added, used the correct server settings, etc. - nothing works.  It says my account and the servers are 'offline'.  I had to use the Yahoo mail app, which I don't like as much as macmail.  If anyone has had success with this it would be much appreciated.
