DATA CAPS

This DATA CAP by COX is not enough. It does not work for my household and i know of others that go over or have to slow/stop using their internet service in the hopes that they don't go over. With the way everything is now streaming service how can this data cap be reasonable/right. I didn't have a data caps before but they saw how streaming is growing and now we have to pay extra for this service. In my opinion, it is not fair but i'm only one it will take all of us together to change this.

Yes IA it is annoying! I switched to Cox specifically for unlimited internet, or at least that's what I told them when I ordered it. The girl assured me it was unlimited.... Well it's not it can be but it doubles the price you pay. Anyway I will keep Cox till I move, but then switch back to ATT, they DO have unlimited internet.

it hasn't been too long ago that 500 was the magic number & cox bumped it up to the current 1024, betcha didn't complain about that!!

it's the same with cell companies, folks abused unlimited & since your doing a lot of streaming, time to pay the fiddler!!

imagine defending data caps, when you pay a premium.

and it isn't just streaming, games have increased in size so much, games are now over 100gb, so don't talk about things you don't know about don't say "it hasn't been too long ago that 500 was the magic number & cox bumped it up to the current 1024, betcha didn't complain about that!!" that is literally ignorant. Games are not 1gb anymore, need to get your head out the clouds.

I have discussed this till I'm out of breath. Kinetic Gig just came into my town with no data cap from Windstream. Granted they will probably get bought out and they don't own the network. But without a promo, 500 Mbs symmetrical fiber optic with no data cap advertised 480 Mbs to 750 Mbs is $79 plus tax w/fiber modem rental included. I work in tech and my friend 2 blocks from me is also in the tech sector, he Skyped me his speed test after installation and he is getting advertised speed, a ping of 7 ms, and no jitter. This scam of data caps when TV is on demand is going to cost Cox dearly. Cox has tons of bandwidth but wants to dollar us to death.

IF there were another provider in my area without data caps I would be using them.  Difficult to have an effect on them until there is more choice.  Good news is the Space X launch last night put a bunch of satellites in orbit that will eventually provide options.

I'm excited about that as well, a large array of low altitude satellites that use infrared in the vacuum of space creating low ping times. Could be a came changer.

Same here. Last billing cycle (data) Dec 24 - Jan 23 (2019) my data spiked from a normal 300 GB per month to 895 GB. I have a TP-Link modem and router, this is the same set-up for the past few years. My router does not offer bandwidth usage logging. No new hardware has been added for at least the last 6 months. Just yesterday alone I used 100 GB.

Devices: (3) Xbox One, (2) Google Mini, (1) Google Home Hub, (2) Chromecast, up to (4) phones depending on when my children are here, and (4) smart bulbs (TP-Link LB100). These are the same devices I have had for months.
