How many "thousands of dollars"?
I would expect it to cost a $2000 - $3000.
You could get your own quote to:
1) dig a 100 foot trench to a depth of 3 feet
2) lay in conduit (1.5" inch -- but check with Cox for their preferred size).
3) pull underground rated coaxial cable through the conduit (although check with Cox -- they may prefer to pull their own cable).
If you can get the trench and conduit laid cheaper, I'm sure Cox will work with you to hook you up.

Believe me, thought of this. Have ask Cox if they would work with this idea. Have yet to hear back. This idea would be close to 200 feet of undergrounding, going under fences and skirting a septic system. COX is fast on billing customers, but not so helpful with getting customers service hook up.
4G home internet is looking like my only option.
- BeckyModeratorHi 360bluejay, I'm sorry for the difficulties you've encountered while trying to get Cox services installed, and I want to investigate this further on your behalf. Since I don't want you to provide your address on this public forum, please email your name and address to cox.help@cox.com. I'm happy to try and get you more details regarding your serviceability request! -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator
