Can't send emails from my Cox account
I can't send emails from my MacBook or iPad over WiFi. I can send from my iPhones when using cellular only. I know it isn't my Apple mail app as I have another email account on that app functioning...

Thanks. I guess I will use webmail although sending emails using my iPhone works, too.
Apple mail asks for both and I've tried switching them around, using the same, etc. No luck.

I assume you are going through your cellular connection which has a different IP address then when on Wi-Fi. You could put your phone in hotspot mode and share it with your Macbook. You would only have to do it when sending emails.
Thanks. I actually did that after I discovered that turing of WiFi and using only cellular was a workaround. BTW I was able to reconnect my MacBook. I looked at the network settings and I had checked "limit ip address tracking", or maybe Apple checked it for me. Anyhow, I've reconnected my Apple mail to Cox. Still no SMTP. I read the thread you mentioned and I'm pretty sure Cox doesn't want to allow an SMTP connection from this ISP (Hotwire).
Make sure your outbox is cleared, then try sending a message.
I have tried that. Nothing in the outbox and when I send an email it goes to the outbox and stays there.
No cox as far as I know doesn’t allow smtp access outside the cox network
