Arris TG1682G is hacked

So recently my gateway began controlling and changing settings to devices connected to it, the arris model is pretty well known to have a back door that has all the same username and passwords to get into ip admin settings… do I just order a different gateway or do I have a way to repair this one. I think Cox owes me some money and so does Mcafee.

This is some back door.  Where is this default admin username and password documented?

What is your gateway changing without your consent?

i read the CERT and it appears to affect 3 models with specific firmware versions.

        Does Cox issue these models?

It also gave solutions for providers.  Did Cox implement the solutions (workarounds, temp fix, etc)?
