300 Mbps? Uh no.

I switched to 300 Mbps service from 150 Mpbs about a week ago and so far I am thoroughly underwhelmed. I upgraded my router and modem in preparation. The best speed I get from Speakeasy is about 140/28 in the kitchen. When I sit right under the router and using the COX speed test, I get about 93/31.

I am considering switching back, because I can't rationalize paying more for service I'm not getting (not even close), and I still get momentary breaks in service I reported to COX three weeks ago.

I've tested all over the house and so far, nothing comes up to what I was told. Certainly disappointing. And I an not a gamer or streamer, or I would have changed back already.

You don't mention the wireless speeds you were actually getting BEFORE upgrading, but I'd be surprised if it were anywhere near 150 Mb/s. When they sell you these packages, the advertised speeds are for wired ethernet connections, not wireless. You might want to look into getting some wireless repeaters/extenders to boost your wireless speeds in other areas of the home.

Yeah. They tout optimized numbers, but every body does it. I got the same answer on my Harley when I asked about their proclaimed mileage I wasn't getting. Come to find out that number came from putting the motor on a dyno and not in normal use. It's not a lie, just not reality. We've grown accustomed to misstatement acceptance. Sigh.

I was getting about 60/10 Mbps or so, so I was hoping for better for a 150 Mbps line. Both the laptop and the desktop system get about the same, but the iPad gets close to 200 Mbps of so. I guess I have to be satisfied with what I have or go fish. I had repeaters for a while on my network, but when they died I didn't notice much difference, so I never replaced them. Maybe now that I have better speed potential it would be worth replacing them.

Estimated mileage, energy scores and bandwidths are all theoretical numbers calculated in labs.  There's a difference between theoretical and real-world numbers.  All marketers differentiate between theoretical and real-world in the fine-print.  "...user experience may vary..."

I would kill for those speeds.  Best I'm getting is 41.7 down, same package.  And naturally their response is always to ask about equipment (not my problem), rather than just admit their service **.  What a joke.

Are you able to connect a, not too old, PC with a gigabit Ethernet port directly to the modem, then reset the modem and test?

I hate to tell you this, but the 150Mbps is no more you like me were grandfathered and can't change then go back
