I’ve had Cox Internet for about 8 years now, with great/expected speeds and no service interruptions at all. However, over the past few months, the service has been going down a few times a month for several hours. Is anyone else having this problem in South Orange County/Mission Viejo?
Cityside Fiber is branching out in our neighborhood, and it seems that Cox is really trying to shoot themselves in the foot. I’ve been extremely happy with Cox, but if their internet service is going less than 75% reliable, there won’t be a reason to stay once Cityside Fiber is available and at high reliability.

Go with fiber. Not only is fiber, just better than cable internet in so many ways but it can be cheaper too. Is also the fact that Cox was just bought out so they're probably not going to be fixing or upgrading anything not only anytime soon but ever again.
If you want to troubleshoot, can you tell us something about your network? Like what kind of modem and router you have? What kind of troubleshooting you have done? Have you looked at the signal levels and logs?
