I just switched over to their 2 gig plan, 100 megabytes upload speed and it's so terrible, the speeds are all over the place. One minute it's 2300 megabytes/90 megabytes upload, then all of a sudden it's 200 megabytes/ 3 megabytes upload. There's morning I wake up and it's just not working, say wifi network has no internet. Other times my kid watching disney plus and it's buffering forever.
I tried tech support and their only response is really reset modem or your not using our approved modem and router so it's your problem your not getting good internet or would you like to sign up for our IT support plan.
First I have a really good modem Arris Surfboard S34, and my Orbi 870 mesh system can handle the 2 gig plan, comes with a 10 gig internet port.
This is so frustrating, it's terrible. And those speeds above are coming from both wifi and ethernet. When straight from the tap it's hitting 3 megabytes upload you know it's terrible.
The funny thing is i've had their 250 megabyte plan for years and no issues, just upgraded because I thought it would be great to get super fast speeds and not have to worry about buffering, and now i got some anxiety being online expecting that endless buffering to appear.
If any COX representative is reading this help! the normal channels aren't working and looking at other posts this is a very common problem

Just figured out what the problem was.
I will give some thanks to the COX online service person that helped me,
I had started to question everything my modem, my router, my coax cables, maybe too many had giga speeds in the area and it was some how degrading my service, or maybe my modem was getting too hot and it needed to be cool to operate correctly, ect.
I did all the typical textbook stuff and it all flopped, COX said their end was good, the modem company didn't help too much, the router company also didn't help. After just about giving up, I remembered about 5 years ago I was remodeling the kitchen and I had the electrician pull a new coax line out to the kitchen and thats when I remember him mentioning that he essentially moved the existing coax line from one of the rooms to the kitchen and there was already a second coax and I had a splitter up there. That second line I knew was a dead line because my modem never work when i plugged into it. Anyway he kept the dead line connected at the splitter and called it a day. When talking with the COX online tech, tech 2, not the first guy they assin you, you need to continue to ask for a tech 2 or higher, I finally got a hold of you someone who helped alot more than resetting and restarting the modem, told me what the live statistics were on my modem, how stable the signal was, ect. And after talking for like 30 minutes he mentioned that if the main coax line is split or damaged that often leads to fluctuations in the speeds. That's when I remembered the splitter that was up in my attic. I got into the attic located the splitter, unplugged that dead line from the splitter and my speeds went from 200/3 to 2300/114.
Anyways for anyone having similar issues check your coax cable, and if you have a splitter get rid of it, keep it one line straight to the modem because at these speeds you need that connection to be straight.
Hope this helps anyone who has similar issues
