I too have seen a problem with Youtube, but I do not think it's strictly a Cox issue though since both TWC and Comcast are having similar issues. What data do you have? What area?
Yea, that seems to be what other people are reporting. I can't use that solution since I have certain things running on my computer that would get messed up each time I turn on a VPN.
I have a feeling the awareness of this problem will slowly increase until Cox or someone takes a look at it. I think both Youtube, the ISP and the CDN are playing the "I see nothing!" game. Heh
Add me to the list of users impacted by this. Its not just YouTube though. Anything related to Google Play also is an issue. Updating apps on my android phone is extremely slow during peak hours, downloading music from google play is slow, etc. and its fine in the middle of the night, or if I VPN into work it is also fine. Something is definitely wrong and while it may not be a Cox issue directly they need to be looking into this and providing updates. It's been weeks now that this has been an issue.
Its important that we don't assume every problem with Youtube is "this" problem if there is no data to support that. Until the issue can be isolated I suggest focusing on wired desktops direct to the modem. Its hard enough to get anyone to believe the problem is occurring if its not happening to them, incorporating unrelated issues will only muddle our situation IMHO.
Understood, I am in IT and have multiple Cisco certifications. I know what I am doing. I've looked at everything I can, that I have administrative control over, and this is NOT an issue on my side. I see excessive TCP retransmits whenever I run a test to YouTube, or Google Play, even loading photos from Google + is impacted. All other services work fine, speedtests are fine, retransmits are well within the acceptable range. It could be a CDN issue, it could be a Cox issue, it could be a google issue, but its not an issue inside my house. The fact that it doesn't happen via other service providers at least tells you Cox has something in the path they can look at, or engage whoever is needed if there is a hand off point.
