Me and my younger sister have the exact same make and model for our laptops, and we had some major disconnection issues earlier with our service, but we had a tech come out to fix it. However, my sister's laptop has very very poor connection, barely holding up to one bar and taking up to 10 minutes to load a single page after excessive refreshes. My laptop at the exact same time on the exact same network works perfectly fine with full bars. It's not her laptop because she can connect to any internet just fine with full speed at her friends' homes and school. It's only our internet she can't get a sturdy connection too. Is there something I need to do to allow my network to have more connection for her? We use a router for the wifi. I'm not very computer literate, sorry. I'd really rather not have a tech come out again and have to pay them $60 when internet problems have continued on since I've signed back up to Cox.

I'm sorry that your sister has been having so much difficulty maintaining a wireless connection. How far away from the router is she while trying to connect? Distance from the router and proximity to other household electronics can sometimes affect connectivity.
Is your sister running any security software on her laptop? You might want to check the security settings--especially the firewall settings--to ensure the security software and the router settings aren't conflicting. Also, check her internet browser settings to ensure she doesn't have a static IP address set as a default.
Since you mention that it takes an incredibly long time for a page to load, I definitely recommend that you make sure the PC's anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are up to date, and then run a full scan. I was having a similar issue on my personal laptop last night, and a full scan revealed 4 separate malware items! So none of us are immune anymore.
Another way to test what is happening is to have your sister connect her laptop directly to the modem through an ethernet cord--bypassing the router completely. Reset the modem by unplugging the power for a few seconds, then plug it back in. Then reboot the laptop. Have your sister to to several web pages that she usually has problems with and see if they load faster.
