Upgraded NEW MODEM DOCSIS 3.0 but speed still caps at 32 mbps!!

Just recently upgraded my modem from Docsis 2.0 to Docsis 3.0 (motorola SB6121) but I'm still get speed 32mbps. I lived in kansas and I know cox just recently upgraded preferred customer from 25 to 50 mbps connection. Anyone having the same issue? From searching the forum it seems like most people having issue with old service code on their account.

I just upgraded also to a Motorola SB6180 Docsis 3.0 and upgraded my Cox Internet Package but my speeds are around 31 to 32 mps also. Do you have to have it reset or change the ols service code?

I don't mean to hijack/piggy back on the thread, but since you helped the OP with the same issue, could you check and make sure I'm not capped either? I'm on Premier and I've realized I've been sticking around the mid to high 30s range but never much higher than that, and I realized that the speed was increased, so I should be receiving higher speeds, correct? (I currently have a docsis 3.0 modem)

@Midnight Rider

Yours should be fixed.

@cafecola

Your account appears to be correct.  I'd suggest trying both wired and wired connections as well as using the speed test provided on http://www.cox.com under Internet Tools to see how your results compare.

Service codes don't appear to be an issue in your market however when I look at the modem it looks like it's just barely online due to poor signal levels being reported.  I'd suggest checking things such as removing unnecessary cable splitters, looking for loose/damaged fittings or cable.  If none of that helps a service call may be helpful.

I have virtually the same problem as the OP except my new modem is an SB6141.  I consistently get 32-33 download and (surprisingly) as much as 22-23 upload, which is quite fast.

I spoke a short time ago with a Tier 1 CSR who looked at my account, had me do the modem off/on and computer reboot thing, with no success and finally gave me a ticket number for Tier 2 support.  Before I go on (expensive) hold for a long time I thought I'd check with you to see if you can solve this problem for me as you have for the other guys.  Thanks!

I would appreciate if you could check mine too. Recently bought a SB6141, still showing 32mbps cap. Tried calling support, the automated rebooted my cable modem, which kicked me off my call, and showed no change in speed.

thanks

@msteph46 and @Nalek

Both modems show the older information for the service codes and have been updated so you both should be able to test the speeds again and see if that made any difference.

Ed, that indeed worked for me.  Tests here and at speedtest.net show blazing fast downland and upload rates.  Huge thanks for fixing that for me!

I haven't been able to find a cable to connect to the modem as of yet, but after my last post I tested the other two devices which connect to our internet (a phone and a laptop) and I was receiving the same lowish speeds. Should I keep testing/call in to support about this issue? It almost seems like it may be a congestion issue in my area. Aside from the few instances of 45mbps since my post, I'm usually in the low/mid 30s. (I've used outside tests as well) According to my history on the cox speed test, the last time I had 50mpbs was the end of last year. It seems bad considering I'm supposed to have 50 on my plan. My upload seems fine most of the time. (though sometimes it does take a dive as well) :/

Test results my cox test history:

I'm using a Cisco DPC3825 DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway from Cox which acts as both my modem and router, btw. Anything look wrong in the data below?

 (I've been planning on making my own thread whenever I manage to get a cable connected to one of my devices directly, I hope it's ok I'm replying to this thread. Sorry for the edits, had a formatting error)
