Slower than expected internet on Ultimate

Hi, my family recently upgraded our internet to Ultimate and we've still been experiencing speeds of around 25 up and down, where most I've seen has pegged the ultimate as hovering around 150. I searched my modem, a Cisco DPQ3212' and it seems to be DOCSIS 3.0, so I'm not sure what else would be the issue holding us back right now.

What was your old plan? Its possible the modem hasn't updated with the correct info. Also I notice thats a phone modem, do you use it for both phone and internet?

Last, are you connecting your computer directly to the DPQ3212 or going through a router?

My old plan was Premier, which as far as I can gather, should also be around 50 instead of the 25 I'm getting. I've been connecting through a router for most of the tests, but I've connected directly in and gotten the same result. I previously used the modem for both phone and internet before we cancelled phone and continued along with Cox internet service.

What are you using to test your speeds? Might want to try the one in Internet Tools on Cox's webpage. That will atleast give you a baseline. And could you post the results?

I'm using speedtest.net because all of the Internet Tools through Cox seem to give me a server error instead of actually loading. But the results I'm getting from this one at 2 am are as follows.

Try a couple different servers. Sometimes the closest server is having problems. Odd that your having issues with the Cox one because it runs on the same software as the speedtest.net. You can also try theses.

Also, what are your signal levels? You can check them at 192.168.100.1 and just leave the user and password blank and click login.

Its all about the signal coming in the wire into the modem. Think of it like bars on your cell phone. May have the best phone in the world, but if its bad signal or there is interference, it will cause you problems. Could you post your signal levels> Should find them on 192.168.100.1 but I can give more detail if needed

After a bunch of playing, I've got my speed up to around the 150 through the modem, but the router appears to be throttling it to about 50-70. No QoS settings are enabled. This router displeases me.

What kind of router do you have? To get 100Mb+ you would need one with all gigabit ports. Also, wireless speeds will be a great deal slower most likely..

Hello, I too have just purchased the Ultimate package and seem to be only getting around 22-25 tops for download speeds.  I was wondering what the deal was? Thought i was paying for 150Mbps not 25!  I am currently using the dual band modem provided by the company and have my internet hooked up through wireless for some devices but hardlined for my PS4 and all devices arent coming anywhere near the 150 mark. maybe im misunderstanding how the speeds work and there reference to the Mbps plan? But i figured if i had a package that said it was 25 i got speeds of 20-25 Mbps download speed and so on and so forth according to package. Any help would be greatly appreciated before i just downgrade my plan to get what im getting now for a much cheaper price.

Could you answer some of the questions I asked OP? What kind of modem and router? How are you judging your speed? Etc.

My response was directed @ Connection speed.

As for your router, the ethernet ports cap at 100Mbps so it wouldn't be compatible with the new 150Mbps speed. If your getting 150 direct to the modem but not the router I would call Cox and see if support is covered. If not, return it and buy a better router.
