Service disruption daily

I was told that if you use up your monthly data (Mine is 250 gigs) that Cox does NOT throttle your internet...but all evidence to the contrary for me. Anytime I go over on my data, and try to download something, it kicks me off of the internet shortly after. I have had 3 different techs out to my house just to make sure it wasn't a hardware issue, and according to them it isn't.

If this is how you get penalized for going over on data, then I wish I was told about it during the several calls I've had with the Cox technicians about these issues, otherwise I have no idea why this is happening.

From what I understand, not only is it against policy to disable/throttle your service, but Im not even sure its technically possible unless they are rebooting your modem and putting a new config file. What kind of modem do you have, some will say the config file.

What did the technicians think it was when they were out? Next time it happens can you do a speed test and a tracert to the server your trying to download from? If your not sure how to do either, reply and I can give more specific instructions.

I suspect whatever is causing the high data utilization may be a contributing factor with the symptoms you're seeing.  Do you use any Bittorrent clients and if so do you know how many connections they're opening?  Too many connections open at once can flood a router and cause it to experience problems that would look like this.

Well the service guys said my router was only a 20mb and my router was 25mb, not sure if that is the issue or not. An ether net cable was replaced, and possibly other connections were checked. I was not home when they were here each time. However, I do not get any interruptions when I have data.I have also had a Cox employee test and ping my modem with no issues.

Hello,

Have you tried bypassing the router just to make sure that the router is not the cause?
