Screen-black on bottom
Whenever I fast-forward, pause or rewind the program, the "status bar" shows up on the bottom of the screen. However, this "bar" takes up about 1/3 of the whole screen- thus, I cannot see what is happening on the bottom part of the picture. Many times I try to read a newsline at the bottom of the screen and the "black bar" covers this so I can't see it during a pause (but it does clear in a few seconds) or during FF or REW. VERY frustrating, especially since there is no reason to have such a large area to cover, except that it shows the ICON for the show on the left side. Why not just a small "status bar" at the bottom and allow viewing of the picture during this process???
Anyone know of a setting to get rid of this black bar at the bottom of the screen??

I don't know of any setting option to make changes to the status bar that you've mentioned. What is the DVR receiver model that is giving you this black bar?

The receiver says: XG1-A on the front. That what you're needing?

Pressing the EXIT button on my remote makes the status bar disappear. My complaint is that the status bar stays on for 5 seconds after i am done fast-forwarding.

HEY, THAT'S IT!!!!!!!! Hit "Exit" and the status bar disappears and FF or REW continue without the bar up. YAHOO!!!!!!!!!
However, yes- once you hit stop, the status bar reappears for 5 seconds.....how stupid!
