SB6141 Firmware Upgrade

I'm trying to switch my service to my own Motorola SB6141 modem so I don't have to pay rental fees each month.  However, after calling tech support and activating the modem...I am experiencing very slow download speeds (max of ~10Mbps).  Looking online, I think my modem may need a firmware update.  Here is the current information:

Model Name: SB6141
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.10-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Hardware Version: 7.0
Firmware Build Time: Oct 29 2012 18:07:13

How can I go about updating the firmware? Thanks!

You do appear to be on an old build here's my current one:

Model Name: SB6141
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.16-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.18m3
Hardware Version: 7.0
Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0022
Firmware Build Time: Feb 16 2016 11:28:04

I'd call in and ask for someone to push the firmware to your modem, if Tier 1 can't do it, ask to be sent to Tier 2, I've always had to talk to someone in Tier 2 to get it done, but your mileage may vary.  When one of the mods see this thread, they probably can have someone push the update.

Hi Bknapp300,

It appears that your modem failed to accept the Cox firmware update. Where did you get the Motorola SB6141 modem? Is it possible to take it back and exchange it for another one?

Yeah, a technician came over this morning and all signs point to being an issue with the modem.  I purchased it from Amazon about 2 years ago to use with Comcast...so I'm going to try and see if it's still covered under warranty.  For now, the tech re-activated my original rental modem so I have internet access again.

@bknapp300

Keep in mind there are no rental fees if you have one of our telephony modems and have phone service on it. With that being said this could all be for nothing.

Hey Chris, I saw a post where you were able to check to see, and update the firm ware on someone's router, any chance you could do the same for me, my router is acting funky?

Thanks.

Your device appears to be up to date although it's reporting some cable signal and wifi interference issues. Have you tried a wired connection yet to see if that works any better?
