Problem Skipping Channels Option
HD DVR make & model GMH8742
In the changes settings under the skipped channels, many of the channels that I am trying to skip doesn't stay clicked while other channels hide automatically without any help. For example, many of the channels under 1000 will not stay skipped. Under the legacy TV essential lineup section, I also want to skip all these channels so all the HD channels which I see are listed in the new categories. But many of the channels will not stay hidden or if it is hidden then the other HD channels in the categories disappear. For example: AMCtv channel 1048/AMCtv channel 1105. It is almost like these channels are linked to each other. They are either both skipped or visual but never independent.
This really defeats the purpose of skipping channels per my personal customization. This also happens whether the user default or added user is used. This has been a problem for awhile but seems more pronounced now since the new organization of the guide today. Please fix this huge bug or do I need replacement hd dvr?

I'm having the same trouble. If I check skip on ESPN 1025 it will also show skipped on 1300. What is the purpose of TV essential lineup? What does even mean? If it's duplicate HD channels then why have it?

Essential lineup will vary depending on where you live. Most channels that are carried in the package are available in HD but not all. Also, not all customers have HD TVs, so we do carry the SD and duplicate HD channel to provide services for everyone.

I'm having the same problem. Spent 30 minutes doing the same thing last night thinking I was crazy. :) It would also be nice to be able to select all channels to be skipped then just add back the ones we want....would be so much less time consuming. I'm in Tulsa.

I live in Tulsa. I sent an email to Cox Support and they wanted to dispatch a technician. I told them that others are having the same issue so I didn't think that would fix my issue. It sounds like more of a system wide issue. This is just happening for the duplicate HD channels such as 1025/1300 1041/1463. I have all my SD channels checked and that does not create an issue.

We appreciate your feedback and I will be sure to share it with our programming team. The feature is currently working as intended. When you set one of the numbers to be skipped, the feature will also set other duplicately mapped channels as well. Both channels are the exact same feed just mapped to 2 numbers. This allows for the convenience of the legacy TV Essential Lineup while still correctly grouping channels by genre as the new lineup intends.

Well, I hate that this new channel set-up forces me to have duplicates of stations on my line-up. I, too, live in Tulsa. When I called to talk to a technician about this problem, I was told over and over by the associate that there is no "skipped channel" feature available on Cox. No matter that I've used this for years, and told him I was looking at it on my TV, he kept telling me that there was nothing in his literature about such a feature, so it does not exist. Horrible customer service, there. Then he told me to set channels as Favorites and that would give me only the channels I want, even though it's not the view I prefer. Well, that doesn't work. Setting one "version" of a channel as a Favorite adds all of the copies, as well.
I like to use the skipped channel feature to cut down on the number of channels that I have to scroll through. However, now with this new line-up, I have to keep four "copies" of Boomerang on my grid, four "copies" of Nicktoons on my grid, doubles of many other channels...and I have scroll through all of these duplicates to get to two channels that have only one number assigned to each. I hate this new set-up. It does not make it easier to find channels, it just gives us many more lines to scroll through.
