Hi I've had this problem for the past several years with cox http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/379.aspx (My old thread which is locked now apparently) well for the past week or so I've had very low upload speeds and packet loss

My speeds often when i do a speedtest to a server in wichita are fine but every server outside of it looks like that, normally having lower then what i pay for speeds aren't much of a problem for me if i can atleast get half of what i pay for however I do require atleast half the speed of which i pay for, also during times of high packet loss its also causing our home phone to go out (lots of noise issues in the past), so thats my problem. I've called the tech that helped me in the past and left a message however he hasn't responded to me yet. I still have my case number and everything if I can get someone to help

Nothing personal, we just did a massive cleanup of the forums at the beginning of the year to keep new posters from posting on unrelated ancient threads and help us keep up with ongoing threads better.
Case numbers shouldn't be necessary, we can find most users by their profile info or by other means nowadays. I think I've got it.
That wouldn't be related to any individual ongoing issue, that would be because you're on one of several nodes that go through a server that went down this evening.
At the moment I'm seeing 2 to 8% packet loss pinging the modem, and your T3 timeout count is ticking up over the modem's history. All levels are good (well, upstream is marginally low but not unacceptably low, and it's being received at the CMTS at a dead-on 0 dBmV), so yes probably a noise issue.
The latest service call was referred to maintenance, but that was several months ago, so at this point our best bet would be to put in another service call and make sure all the ongoing details are included on the workorder.

Thanks for the response and yeah I called during the outage and they told me to call back if I'm still having problems when it comes back online, which I am.. Should I call again or is this something you are able to do to put in another service call?

well i called in and have an appointment for wednesday, however I doubt it will do much having some random tech come out to make sure everything is plugged in is always very annoying to me especially because last time we completly rewired the house and outside the house and bought new modem and everything, if at all possible i would like to actually get some sort of higher tech, but the person on the phone said this is just the process.. even though i've had to redo this process so many times already and told them about it...

It's already set to go to a multi-product (cable/data/phone) technician, who are senior to the single-product (cable-only, data-only, etc.) techs, and I've added notes about the ongoing issue.
Our CMTS (cable modem termination system), basically the main server that several nodes of the network run through, has had a component failure that we've had to work with Cisco to pin down. I don't believe your problem is related to a CMTS issue, but I wouldn't rule out a node (neighborhood-level) issue. I'm checking into that now.

Welp as expected nothing is solved, he didn't even know what packet loss was ( also no way to tell if theres any packet loss, so i had to sure him my speedtests/pingtests) and said he can't do anything about that or refer me to maintenance because hes a contract worker (as expected, this happens everytime i call cox and have someone come to my house you send me a contract worker that has nothing to do with cox and can only make sure things are plugged in correctly) so here I am again packet loss out the **** and i have zero follow up. I guess I call cox again and *** up a storm till maybe on my 5th try i'll get someone who can actually help with my problems

Oh, dear. Well I don't know how that order got reverted, though contractors can escalate to maintenance when necessary, but I don't think it's necessary to do an individual escalation anymore.
On further investigation, I've had a ticket opened for what appears to be a noise issue throughout the node, and it actually isn't the first one in that node in the last few weeks. Our maintenance techs will have to sniff out the source of the noise now.

Well, all the maintenance tickets are closed, and I'm showing 0% packet loss on your modem and EMTA right now.
That was faster than when they did the noise hunt in my node a few years back. Looks like the main culprit was a U-Verse installation backfeeding signal into a cross-wired Cox installation, but we also found a damaged drop letting in radio frequency noise, both very close to you.
That should do it.
