Hi Oscar,

I was able to verify that Season 4 Episode 3 of Treme is available On Demand in your area. Are you missing the SD or the HD version?

Missing both HD & SD.  Rebooted box; no change.  I have all of season 3 & 4 except SN4: 03.

I have recycled power 3 times.  Any more ideas?

Both new Cisco boxes (DVR Dual Channel Master box & slave) don't have Treme SN4: 03.

What are the odds of both boxes deleting 1 of the 16 shows available for the last 2 seasons and that one being in the middle of the last season?

My old SD Scientific Atlanta box won't load HBO On Demand SD, but will load HBO HD; go figure that one.  This box shows SN4: 03, but of course will not play any HD programming.

I was told that my area has had problems with The Guide.  Could this be related?

Those all sound like symptoms of a bigger signal issue actually.  There would likely be benefit to scheduling a technician to come troubleshoot further.

I can't really say that for sure from this end.  It could also be an intermittent signal issue of some sort.  In either case a technician would be able to check for problems.

There are limits to what we can see/do from this end.  I can't say for sure what is going on however having a technician come out and troubleshoot can be a simple and effective step to resolving and/or further diagnose the issue.

I can tell you it is not your box, as this is not a box issue.  I am having the exact same issue.  Episode info is not stored on the box, it is stored on the network, probably regional cached on servers.  Someone at Cox needs to look into this.  Having someone come out to your house will waste everyone's time.  This happens all the time.  Search the forums and you can see.  It happens to me all the time, just this time annoyed me enough to call and look at the forums.  I want to watch S4:03 of Treme on my TV!!

scoteb,

You are correct in your statement that OnDEMAND is not stored on the box. It's likely that it is a signal related issue of some sort. We can do and see a lot via our various tools, but some things require a more in person/hands on approach to determine the root cause.

If you're repeatedly having the same problem, have completed normal troubleshooting and we are not able to recreate it on equipment in your area, the best next step is to schedule for a  technician to visit your home to resolve the problem once and for all.

I can schedule this for you if you like, or you can call your local office to set up the appointment.

Hi ColleenD,

Thanks for your response.  Let me explain why I don't think this issue is signal related.  I've had Cox for many years and my share of problems with OnDemand.  I've had many techs out over the years and have learned a little something.  Now, if I could see the episode as a choice on the menu, select it, then it not play, or glitch out, then yes, I would say it is signal related.  But if I look at the OnDemand Menu and See:

S4:01

S4:02

S4:04

S4:05

Where S4:03 is clearly not in the menu, then explain to me the logic and reasoning you would suspect that this is signal related.  When the OnDemand menu initializes after a reset, does it not retrieve the choices from a server?  If every box in my house is reset multiple times, as well as other users, what are the odds that this one and only episode does not load on the menu because of a "signal" issue.  Doesn't the OnDemand media (the actual bits for the video) get synchronized to distributed servers for playback.  Isn't this why a server in Las Vegas may have the video, but a server in Phoenix may not?  Or even a server in one part of Phoenix may have it, but another may not?  Being that these videos are transferred over the internet and are large files make them prone for error in copying over?  I've seen on some forum posts that these servers actually can have errors and get out of synch, and the only way to fix them is for that particular server a customer is connecting to actually re-synchronize the video.

I am disappointed that this problem is marked as "solved" when the only response is call a tech out to your house, without some investigation, understanding of the technical issue, and attempt to solve at the network level.

If I am not understanding something correctly, please enlighten me.

Otherwise, it is my understanding this particular problem is an issue with one of the Cox On-Demand video servers.

Hi scoteb,

I understand your concern. When we check our TV in the office, the title is showing in the OnDemand library. This means the title is in the server and the issue is between the server and your box. We've already exhausted all trouble shooting steps we can complete from the office. Since the issue continues, we can only suggest a technician to come out and get this resolved. We schedule 7 days a week in 2 hour time slots, 8-10, 10-12, 1-3, 3-5, and 5-7. Please email me at cox.help@cox.com and I'm happy to get this setup.

Sorry, I marked this thread as solved.  Of course the problem is still there and this is not the first time an On Demand episode was missing, but as far as the help on this forum can go (cycle power, call a tech)...solved.

Hey Oscar,

Check now… It seems episode 3 is now showing up for me… no reboot, no tech came out.  However, HD version is now missing episode 1 (but I have already seen that one :))  SD version has all episodes.

However, in addition to this forum, I did call customer service on the phone  when I posted my comments last week, but they said the same thing as this forum… "I see it here", "reboot", "schedule a tech visit".

Not sure if it made a difference, but I filled out a customer survey tonight for Cox explaining the issue and that I was not happy, then it got fixed.  It could be coincidence, as I did not check earlier today, but episode was still missing last night.

Like I said before, it could be location based, so if you are not in my area, still might be an issue for you.

Anyways, thank you to whomever at Cox fixed this issue for me… I will probably watch this episode tonight! :)
