On Demand - Slow Load Time

The issue I'm having is that the On Demand menus are SOOOO slow to load.  You click on demand, primetime, then a channel...and it's seriously a full minute for the channel to load and display the names of the shows.  Click a show, and another full minute to populate the episodes.  Internet works great, I could seriously pirate the show online faster then the cable box loads.  I've called and complained, told this sounds normal...but my friend who lives in the same building doesn't have this issue.  He has the Contour DVD HD full-blown thing, I just have the regular TV service/on-deman withouth DVR....is that what causes the wait times?  Not having the DVR?  I figured just because I don't want to record shows (since there's on demand anyway) I'd be able to use it conveniently.  Anyone else have any input?

Hello,

How long has the On Demand menu been slow for you? I'm not sure what troubleshooting steps have been taken, but I have a few suggestions. What model receiver do you have? Please unplug the receiver power from the wall and unscrew the coax as well. Rescrew the coax and confirm the connections are secure to the box and wall. Lastly, reconnect the power and allow the receiver to load the correct time.

Is there a splitter connected to the coax? An option may be to bypass any splitter in the equation to see if the response time improves with On Demand.

The older Cox Set-top-boxes, e.g. an SA Explorer 4240HDC simply do not have enough processing power and memory to run and load the OnDemand menus efficiently.

If OnDemend is important for you, you should look into what newer, faster Set-top-box Cox has to offer in your area, that does not require a Contour DVR service.
