Omaha IPV6

Has Cox launched IPV6 in Omaha yet?  My SB6141 still says IPV4 only.

IPv6 isn't handled by the modem. That won't change when IPv6 launches.

so how do I check it?

Enable IPv6 on your router. If it works (test here), you have it available in your area. As of now, IPv6 doesn't work with gateways. If you figure out a way to test from command prompt, please let me know.

Am I reading that right? I'm probably misinterpreting the word "test".

But for anyone else looking for something to do on a rainy day from the elevated command prompt:

netsh int ipv6 show int "local area connection"

netsh interface ipv6 show route

netsh interface ipv6 show address interface="local area connection"

netsh interface ipv6 show address

Or just netsh /? and look around.

Or waste a weekend at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754516(v=ws.10).aspx

Do a backup first and be very, very careful.

At some point you will find very helpful:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

netsh winsock reset catalog

I meant a way to see if IPv6 is available WITHOUT enabling it. I don't like having things enabled on my router I don't use, so only want to enable it when IPv6 will work. Since there is no official IPv6 release schedule, the only way I know of to see if it's enabled in your area is to turn it on and see.

Thought as much. Why is R.I. lagging? SoCal rules!

Come to RI, where everything is small.  Not sure to be honest, maybe since less customers, less IPv4 use, and less pressure to switch to IPv6?
