I have the premier package and I consistently hit about 16 mbps which is quite a bit off from the 25 mbps advertised. I noticed I do have a docsis 2.0 modem, but my understanding is that docsis 2.0 can handle speeds upwards of 38 mbps. Curious if somone can advise me about the best course of action.
thanks in advance.
Update: I am actually at Docsis 2.0. not 1.1 as I put in earlier. But the question remains.

DOCSIS 1.1/2.0, in ideal signal conditions, on an optimally used channel, downhill with a tailwind, can handle 38 mbps downstream.
We only provision DOCSIS 2.0 for up to 25 mbps, and it generally gets it, but DOCSIS 2.0 modems are past their prime.
And usually where you find a DOCSIS 2.0 modem, you find an outdated router to go along with it, so at every ethernet connection along the way there's a 100mbps connection adding a bit of overhead at the handoff.
Even on lower tiers, we don't require them, but we recommend DOCSIS 3.0 modems, and routers with gigabit Ethernet and wireless-N connections.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to upgrade to the modem, but I have all my devices other than 1 ipad hardwired, so while my router is old and not N, it is a Linksys WRT54GL and should be more than capable of handling 25 mbps.
