No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out

I just got a new modem Arris SB6141 and connection is getting dropped 2-3 times a day.

I was using Ubee docsis 2 modem earlier and never had connection drop issue,  connection speed got increased from <20M to >40M but the connection drop issue is so much irritating. please see the status log below and help me resolve the issue.

Looks like your SB6141 is resetting repeatedly because it's losing power:

Jan 01 1970 00:00:15 6-Notice N/A Cable Modem Reboot due to power reset ;CM-MAC=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Why is the tough question. Could be anything in the chain from your wall power socket to an internal failure of the modem itself.

Thanks for your reply. I think that was when i rebooted the modem manually after the connection was dropped.

Dont know why it is showing Jan 01 1970 as the date for that particular event.

The modem has a clock however the only way it can be set is by our network after it synchronizes.  That being the case the default date/time will be set to 1970 and it's not uncommon to see a bunch of events timestamped according when the modem is rebooting.  The T3 events suggest a problem with the upstream signal or equipment.  Are there any cable splitters you can try bypassing?

Chris,

Thanks for your reply, there are no splitters and modem is connected directly to the port on the wall.

Connection was not dropped since my original post and there is only one event registered in the log, however the connection speed is fluctuating a lot.

The modem is looking better from this end.  It might be worth trying without the router if the speeds continue to be inconsistent to see if there is any change.
