Because of PIP and Tivo all in one location, how can I prevent all mini boxes from responding when I only want to address one?

Miniboxes are not addressable. When you press the remote all boxes that can "see" the ir signal will respond. You can try to shield the boxes so you can select the box bases on where you point the remote. Another idea, if both the Cisco and Evolution boxes are available in your area, get one of each, they may use different remote codes and you can select based on the remote you are using. I haven't tried this and not 100% sure they use different codes.
Another thing, do you have a TiVo Series 2? Only the Series 2 needs a minibox, subsequent models use a cable card, no need for the minibox.

Yes TV has PIP capability. I feed one HDMI input with either a COX or TIVO output, and the other TV input (antenna) is fed directly with a COX cable from the wall jack. I will now have to install a mini box on the direct feed line. With two such setups in the same room, I must have two mini boxes. Is there any way to address them individually with their remote other than trying to be directional on where I point it?

My answer above still stands. Your only hope is if you can get the 2 different manufactures boxes and they use different codes. I only have evolution boxes so I can't test this.

You can try to get one Cisco mini box and one evolution mini box. Usually a market has one or another, but it is hypothetically possible.
I have also heard of people using the IR films or disc from old 3.5 floppies as a way to filter the IR sensor. You could make one weaker, or only respond to the IR ouput from a certain direction. It will take some trial and error and some money, but it could be possible.
Last, any word of if/when Cox will support RF remote function on the mini box? Cox has the RF version of the mini box remote on URC's support site.

My neighbor got a Cisco and I got an Evolution. I'll test the different code theory and post the results here.

Thanks, Jerry. Should be interesting results. I have seen posts here saying the Cisco minibox uses the same codes as the Cisco STB. If that is so, I would guess the different box theory would work.

The remote that came with my Evolution mini box (URC-2220-R) does, in fact, operate my neighbor's Cisco mini box. And her remote, also a URC-2220-R, will operate my box as well.
