Moving across town - Keep existing box?

I am moving from Phoenix to Mesa Arizona soon and will be transferring service to my new home. I currently have a Scientific Atlanta CSH424H box. Do I turn in this box and receive another when I move or do I keep this box to move with me? Is this model the most current type available for a non-dvr HD box?

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your question! You keep the receiver and move it with you to your new address. The CSH424H is the most popular HD (and current) receiver that is not also a DVR.  As long as you aren't having any issues with it, I'd hang onto it.

I tried to have a Scientific Atlanta box activated in Hampton Roads and the Cox technicians refused to do it - saying it was not usable in my area.  I replaced it with a Motorola that is used in our area, but they sill refused to activate it.  Isn't this against the law??  I am paying for the service, including HBO to my house.

Cable Card devices provided by the customer are generally not an issue however if you're speaking of set top boxes used by cable providers those must be provided by us to be activated.
