Local NBC dispute vs. On Demand programming

Ok, I get the dispute with Cox Communications and Gray Television, which owns our local NBC station in Omaha, but how is Cox able to block the NBC On-Demand programming? When trying to access them, I see that I have to subscribe to a premium package to view them, yet all other major network shows are available with the subscription we already have. Aren't these programs available from the national NBC company, rather than the local affiliate? Seems to me that these On-Demand programs should still be available to subscribers, especially since the latest episodes of shows are a day or two after the broadcast. In my opinion, your dispute is with the local, not the national network, and the On-Demand service shouldn't play into the decision to drop the local NBC station. Please explain why this service is not available.

The local affiliate maintains exclusive distribution rights for network content within their broadcast area.  OnDemand content is available per the terms of this agreement and therefore is inaccessible until such time we can reach a fair agreement.

I am so sick of companies putting their bottom lines ahead of the customers. Cox, WOWT, CHI/Alegent, Blue Cross, Blue Shield.... They all claim the other company is the one that wants more money or won't reach a fair deal. But the ONLY thing they care about is how much more money THEY can make. Stop the propaganda bolonga! In this case the channel is streaming non stop propaganda against NBC/ WOWT. If Cox cared at all about their consumer they would have SOMETHING worth watching on. Anything is better than constant whining commercial about "poor brave COX Cable" and big bad evil NBC. Do you really think that anyone is buying it? I need to rethink my choices I guess.
