Leaving behind my cable box

I'm moving out from my home, but leaving behind the cable box because it's a messy situation and I don't want anymore drama.

What's the penalty for not returning the box?

How much am I gonna get dinged?

Same is probably gonna go for my internet modem.

You have to close your Cox account.  If you're not going home to get your mail, you could visit a Cox Service Center to reconcile your account...including the cost of a cable box.

It depends on the box, but usually its a couple hundred dollars. Would it be too unreasonable to ask them to just drop it off at a Cox store? I don't think they even need to give your name or anything. Or you might be able to ask Cox to send a technician to pick up the box. Not sure if this is possible, and it might cost money, but alot less then the cost of the box, and it couldn't hurt to ask. Good luck!
