Ipv6 internet?
When it comes to setting up ipv6 internet connection, cox suggests some "auto" setting, but on my router there are two "auto" settings: auto configuration and auto detect. Which one should I use?

I believe you want to set the IPv6 "Internet connection method" to "Auto config" but set the IP address assignment to DHCP. After, be sure to reset modem then router, in that order, for the IPv6 transactions to take place. The only tricky part is if you want something other then /64 IPv6 block.

I am using a Netgear R6700 (Costco oem version of R7000):
Set the connection type to "Auto Config" and hit apply. The router should go out, find Cox DHCPv6 and configure itself for DHCP. After that, I changed the DNS servers to Google's IPv6 dns ... 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844
I also set IP Address Assignment to Auto Config. I have various Android devices and from what I've read, Android doesn't use DHCPv6. I couldn't get them to pick up and address using DHCP and after switching to Auto Config all devices pickup IPv6 addresses correctly ... Android, Windows and iOS are working. Anyway, if you are not supporting Android devices, this is a mute point. The only problem was after the Windows 10 Anniversary update ... Win 10 no longer picked up the DNS servers. This is a known bug, work-a-round is to issue ipconfig -renew6 after boot.

I believe setting the IP to Auto config makes it use SLAAC, and I read somewhere that those break/reset inside Cox every 24-48hr. This can temporally break the IPv6 connection. Also, Autoconfig doesn't set DNS, making the usual optional setting of static DNS a requirement. So I think your way may help some devices get IPv6 but it can sometimes cause intermittent problems with other devices IMO. YMMV

How does it not work? Can you give a error or any data? That is the way it works for other people.
