False advertisement

I am very unhappy with being lied to. When I signed up on the phone with COX the other day I was told that I would get 15mb/download speed , My cable was hooked up today and the technician did a great job (ran new lines) however he left as soon as the internet was working and shortly after that I tested the service out and I found out the max I was getting is 5mb/download.. So I spoke with Brittany T. via COX live chat support and she confirmed that I should be getting 15mb/download 2mb/upload. She insisted on sending out a technician but I did not see a point in wasting the technician's time as there is likely nothing he can do to fix the issue. So I called the tech support number Brittany T. provided me with and spoke to a lady named Cynthia, who informed me that I was provided with wrong information via Cox and the current speeds I am getting(5/1) is my "max" which happens to be 1/3rd of the speeds I originally signed up for(15/2). I feel this is false advertisement. I disconnected my ATT internet that was working perfectly fine to switch to Cox and now I am stuck with slower speeds than I was originally told I would receive when I signed up. How rude!

What plan, by name, did you sign up for? Here are the different speeds and tiers. Make sure to update the page with your Zip code on the top right for speeds specific to your area.

I signed up over the phone with the connect2compete program, but I see on the link you provided it clearly says 5mb download.. I just dont understand why I would be told over the phone when i signed up that I would be getting 15down and then why cox would have confirmed that i should be getting 15/2 if connect2compete prevents anything higher than 5. VERY confusing and misleading..

What plan are you paying for?  The Essential (15/2) lists for $48.99/mo, the Starter (5/1) for $29.99/mo.  Are you getting the speed you are paying for?

Well it seems more like perhaps cox's database of information is wrong or they are in the process of upgrading the speeds of connect2compete customers from 5/1 to 15/2 as most of them are just reading whats infront of them. I do not know but I don't think its anyone in particular's fault perhaps just a glitch in their systems, however I do feel that COX should at least honor their word and fix my modem account settings to use the 15/2 config.

Hello brickjungle,

I am truly sorry that you were given the wrong information. The max speeds you should get for the connect2compete program is 5 down and 1 up. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
