External DVR Expander
I'm located in the Hampton Roads area and heard an advertisement that indicated that Cox DVR's could be expanded now. I currently have the Motorola DCT3416 dvr. For this model Motorola recommends 4 different DVR expanders (2 WD, 2 Seagate) for use with the eSata connection.
Unfortunatley, when I connect my DVR Expander, it provides a messages that "the use of an external dvr expander is not authorized with your account" error. Everything I have found indicates that this is telling me the eSATA port has not been activated yet. Is the service turned on and available or isn't it??

Thanks for the response. I did have the "auto tune to HD" feature already available and set it to on. I power cycled the DVR to insure it did have another reset. After that it did accept the DVR and reformatted it for use.
Thanks for your Help!

As of 6/4, it is active in every Motorola service area we have except Omaha. Details about all the features included in the same update can be found here.
An easy way to tell if the update didn't apply is to check your settings menu to see if the "auto-tune to HD" feature listed there is available. If not, we would want to reset the receiver and see if it downloads.
A repeated update failure may indicate a flash memory problem or other hardware problem, in which case the DVR would need to be replaced.
