DVR will not do timed recordings

I am running DVR2.  Until about two weeks ago, I was able to do timed recordings.  In other words, I could select a channel and record it for a set period of time, say, one hour.  This no longer works.  When I'm in the Guide, I go to the channel I want, and scroll over to the channel number, then select it.  The option to Record used to appear.  It no longer does.  What's going on?  I've tried resetting the box and refreshing the system.  This didn't help.

Hello. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I know how important the DVR service is as I use it regularly myself. With the DVR2, make sure that you dont already have other recordings going on to prevent new recordings from happening. While we dont have any details about the channel specific timed recordings, the only timed options we're aware of is on recordings itself. By picking a program you can record before and after for specific times when programming it. The instructions are found here: https://www.cox.com/residential/support/managing-a-series-recording-on-a-cox-tv-dvr.html

Ive requested information to see if something recently changed. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your quick response.  I do not have other recordings going on to prevent new recordings from happening.  The referenced article does not help.  I can record any program with no problems.  The problem occurs when I try to record a channel for a fixed period of time.  I use this feature a lot because I frequently want to record only a part of a long sports broadcast.

This is how this feature used to work: 1.) Press the Guide button on the remote.  2.) Navigate to the channel you want to record, then move all the way to the left to the channel number/name on the left grid.  3.) Press OK on the channel name.  4.) Several options will appear.  Select Record, and press OK.  5.)  Scroll down to manually set your precise Start time, Duration, and Date.  6.) Select Confirm and press OK.

What happens now is that in step 4 the Record option no longer appears.  The options are Watch, Favorite, etc. , but not Record.

wendymac22 - Hi, sorry that you're having trouble with the feature that lets you extend your recording time. I'd be happy to try and resend services to the box if you'd like me to give that a try, there's a chance that it could help. Please email us at cox.help@cox.com and include your full name, address and a link to this Forum post. Thanks!

I recently had a similar issue with being unable to schedule a program to record.  The issue was solved when I found and deleted a scheduled recording for that program name on a different channel.

ChrisJ2, I don't believe that you understand the problem.

It has nothing to do with overlapping scheduled recording.

It's 24 by 7, on any and all channels.

And time periods with NO scheduled recordings.

If in the "Guide" I move the 'time' cursor to the far left and press "Enter" I see:

Watch      Favorite       Default    Channel Info

In the past it was:

Watch      Record     Favorite       Default    Channel Info
