We are continuing to make progress. The system began coming back online shortly before 6pm ET and customers in multiple Cox communities have begun to report that their email access is restored. Our messaging stores are not regionally based, so service will not turn on based on location. We expect to continue to make good progress tonight and, as teams continue to work through the night, additional Cox email customers from across our service areas should see their service restored.
As mentioned in our 3pm post, all messages that have been received since Friday are queued in our system and we anticipate delivering messages to customers on a rolling basis as we bring the platform back online. Your queued emails will arrive gradually and may not be delivered in chronological order. You may continue to receive these queued emails over the course of several days after your service is restored.
Thank you for your continued patience.
Please check back for another update at 11 p.m. ET.

Maybe we watch too many crazy movies, and this situation reminds me more of a wacky movie scenario than a real life situation. All of the explanations by Cox provide very vague picture of what is going on, and failed promises to restore the system by the "morning, evening, rolling basis, etc." make it only worse.
Forgive me, I always wanted to believe in Cox and trust the company as a client. But, this situation with inconsistent communication on top makes me just want to cry.
Honestly, was it an attack by a competitor? I am sure guys at AT&T are laughing their butts off right now.

I'm finished with Cox. Already have FIOS ready to come out next week, and to think I was going to switch to Cox for TV once my DirecTV contract was done...

Since for many of us, Cox is our primary email, and we have already gone three days without it, will Cox offer some sort of compensation? When I pay for an internet provider, I am also paying for email services.

your progress is based on the restored service customers report i would expect an internet company to know the accomplishments in restoring service not feedback from their customers - you guys really have no idea whats going on do you?

The service has been down TOO long. Customers should have been notified about this problem - our phones still operate. Restoring emails sent since Friday is just great. What if there are emails requiring our attention on Friday? How about putting the protection used for your business clients on the residential? We are all paying for your service and are equally important.
I do expect to be compensated for the loss of use and aggrevation.
SERVICE RECOVERY!!!

No kidding. They charge an arm and a leg. 3 days without email during the Christmas shopping season is unacceptable.

Email is back up in RI and trickling in as of 9:50 pm. Rec'd a couple emails dated Friday afternoon, and a couple more dated Sunday afternoon. Not holding my breath on any sudden deluge to my inbox, though...
I just hope it stays connected this time.

RE: Email Outage Update

This makes NO SENSE at all to me. Like most everyone my e-mail has been out since Friday -- which really gets under my skin and no way to talk to anyone about it. 10 minutes ago my wife's e-mail on her computer starting working again. She's on wi-fi from my main computer. BUT - I still have no e-mail - seems since they're both in the same house - 30 feet apart and on the same router and modem - how is her's going and mine not ?
Even though my e-mail is considered a residential account - it's tied to my home based business which I depend on. I do expect to receive a credit on my bill for this hassle - doubt I'll get one - but then I might just bail from Cox and go with gmail fully - considering I've had a few gmail accounts for years now !
