Since our update at 1 a.m., our teams continue to make progress in restoring email service to our customers in the Midwest and East Coast regions. Teams across all levels of our organization are focused on the recovery and we truly apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. At this time we cannot provide an estimated time for recovery, but will continue to work around the clock until email service is restored.

"We will provide additional updates by 9 am ET. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you." We now know (at 9:32 AM) that the first statement is BS, which leads me to believe the second sentence is as well!

if they're making progress on midwest and east coast customers, where does that leave those of us in the gulf south??

Yeah, I love the way the post is backdated to make it seem as though it was actually posted on time. Says so much about the way this whole situation is being handled.

I believe it is time to start giving customers an idea of what type of account credit they will see due to the inconvenience....apologies go only so far!

I'm on cox's side. And if any of you people are in the services industry you will know and understand that when it hits the fan the primary task if to fix the problem worry about talking about it later.

Nice. You folks must have one freaking crappy DR plan. Ever think of implementing oh say a SAN or a NAS & if you're already in the driving seat then you're IT team isn't very good. This is ** that we all have waited for email this long without even the bread crum of hope of an ETA. My customer service is good when calling but the guys are as clueless as we are about situation. Might give your level I Help Desk some insight so they're not taking a beating from the server guys cluelessness and obviously a huge F*** up on Cox's part. The one time I give a hoot about your email it is screwed, thanks Cox for upping my locked in rate then bending us over with it & your service on this situation.

Can you atleast tell us what your attempting to do to solve this issue in a technical manner of speaking? Everyone googles everything now a days, you don't even have to do a good job explaining what your trying to do techically fix this situation! This is absolutely rediculous!
I've been waiting to hear from my professor about class work and my final exam, and the department chair of computer science about graduating from college, and I gave them both my COX email address what was I thinking? I should have just used my school email address and that would have solved all my problems! CCRI.edu's Email never goes out!

Cox is not in the service industry. Anyone in IT will tell you there is no way this should happen.

That's ** Paranoia. I've been in the industry of IT for over 15 yrs both as a tech & mgr. Communication & possible obtainable ETA's should be communicated.
Have you heard of a DR/BC plan (Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan)? I mean really....
In this day and age of virtual machines via VmWare, Storage area networks with remote data replication and redundant data centers...something as important as email should never go down. (I know you say its free....that is BS as much as saying DNS is free...technical yes...but intellectually dishonest). Since Sendmail seems to work..but POP access is down I assume your SAN/Server environment went tango uniform....shame on you. You should have had a replication of the mail spool and redundant servers. If it is an AD problem then you should have had a backup of the system state.

Paranoia, some kind of services industry you must run where you tell people that they should be using something else other than what is provided for as part of the terms. Plus did it ever occur to you that most are not so much worried about the loss of a few Nigerian scam emails but far more concerned about the fact that IF the email database has been compromised in any way that their personal and financial information is out there seeing as you HAVE to have a cox email address to manage your account.
