DVR Menu

Yes. Very disappointing. If I have recorded the same movie twice, doesn't tell me or group them. Only seems to work on series recording. Additionally doesn't answer 90% of the questions I submitted. No plans for improvement......?

I recently switched from Verizon Fios to Cox, and after seeing the extremely poor DVR menu interface and how you can manage its options (or lack thereof) I'm sort of regretting the switch in some ways.  I agree, the long list of recordings is a task of work to find a single recording because of the large storage size.  I want the ability to create my own folders, like you can do on a computer, and move certain recordings into them if I choose. 

Maybe a Comedy folder, a Horror one etc.  So it's easier to find things.  Or a folder with my name so I can separate my recordings from those of others in my household, and so the rest of my family can do the same.  It's funny how there is user profiles that you can create for preferences but you can't organize the dvr by user specific recordings?  That's ridiculous, it's a home media dvr we need a way to separate every ones recordings into their own folder and sort them in many different ways.

You can't sort at all, it's just simply by record date.  I'd like the option to sort oldest to newest or newest to oldest.  I'd like the option to put recordings in alphabetical order as well.  Why can't this be done?

When I had verizon fios there were a few things that were much better with their menu options.  They had a folder for "recent deletes" that acted like a recycle bin on a computer desktop so recordings could be restored or permanently deleted later.  Cox doesn't have this feature, once you delete it's gone.  So if you were too hasty in erasing something you can't put it back later if you change your mind.

It also had a history log of the date and time recordings were deleted and canceled so you knew when it occured, cox doesn't have this either.  I also liked how Verizon had more detail about information stored on the dvr.  It told you how many hours of SD and how many hours of HD video were recorded as well as the percentage.  Cox doesn't show the hours, I was very disappointed by this.

One other thing, if you record multiple episodes of one show and you go inside that grouping folder it just has that same title of the series over and over again in the list, so you have to click over to the full into to see what episode it was.  On Verizon when you entered the grouping folder only that folder had the show title, then it had the actual episode title for each show in the list inside the folder so you could easily identify which recording you want to watch immediately.  The home media dvr is great but the software needs some major improvements because it definitely isn't living up to its full potential.

There needs to be a guide option as well so when you see a show and you press info you can look up future airings to choose a time to record, on cox even if you find the title in the guide you have to exit and go to search and type the title in to find more airings of that title.  Verizon had a list under info to easily find more air dates, it's tough to admit because cox is very advanced, but verizon has cox beat in a lot of the software options and functioning.  I'm a returning cox customer and I'm not that impressed with the dvr management after having the service for one week.  Let's make some improvements please?

It would also be nice to do away with the having to click the "A" "B" and "C" buttons for deleting or not deleting recordings.  Just change it so you use the up and down arrows and press select on the option you want to choose with the words delete or not delete.  That would be easier then always scrambling down to find those specific outdated function buttons!

When it asks you to confirm something by pressing the "A", "B", or "C" button, just press "ENTER" instead. Much easier.
