Contour only channels??

I have been having trouble with receiving some channels on my Tivo and had a Cox technician out to look at that today.

He replaced the tuning adapter and cable card, and some of them came back.  But some of the HBO channels would not come through and he found out that apparently some channels are now Contour only.  Marked with a diamond on the channel lineup.

The reason I bought a Tivo is because I found the Contour unusable.  So Cox decided that I now can't get the HBO channels that I am paying extra for.

Why not just send me a registered letter saying "WE DON"T WANT YOU AS A CUSTOMER".

Just boggles the mind.

Does your TiVo's tuner go up to 1GHz? Does your TiVo accept H.264 (MPEG4) signals? If so, it should receive the old Contour tier of HD programming. You DO NOT pay extra for these channels. Your HBO subscription includes the extra HBO HD channels if your equipment will receive them. You get HBO SD and HD, HBO2 SD and HD with your regular HBO subscription. Those with the triangle are equipment dependent.

What model TiVo do you have?

TiVo Premieres, Roamios, and Bolts do receive all the Contour HD channels. All those models are fully capable, and I do not believe there is any special account code you need to view those, as long as you subscribe to the specific channel.

TiVo is also updating the software on the TiVoHD model (Series 3) but not the Series 3 TiVo OLED

But there may be some issues with the new SW on the TiVoHD 11.0n

Question: What does OLED stand for when used in a TiVo context?

To answer all the replies, I a have Roamio Pro, that was purchased 6 months ago, and the software has recently been upgrade to to the latest revision.

According to Tivo, the HD channels that I had been receiving until recently are just not being authorized by Cox cable.  So I used to get 9 channels (that I had in my favorites) and now its 2.

And again according to Tivo, there is absolutely nothing that they can do to change that.

The display on the front panel was an OLED display

I don't think this is a TiVo problem, I think it is a Cox problem, and something is not correct on your account with regards to the CableCARD,

All the Contour HD channels are also MPEG4 and SDV, so it could even be the Tuning Adapter.

A few Years ago there was a special account code that needed to be applied to the CableCARD, called I believe the Plus Pak HD code. so you may want to inquire if that still exists, and is relevant.

Hi Fred,

Bryan and Domino are correct. There used to be a special account code to receive what are sometimes referred to as "Contour-only" channels. This code no longer exists, so there must be something else going on with your account. So that my team can further investigate, please send an email to Cox.Help@cox.com along with your full name, address, Cox PIN, and the channel numbers that aren't working. Include a link to this thread so you don't have to retype the whole issue again. We'll get to the bottom of this for you!
