Cable Card device

I have a Hauppauge 2650 TV tuner box connected to my Windows 7 media Center computer.  The tuner required a cable card and tuning adapter.  When i picked up the cable card and tuning adapter at the Cox store i was told my TV package must be upgraded to advanced to receive the digital channels.  I do not to pay the increase cost  for all the channels in th advanced package.  Prior to this change I was receiving the extended package.

Can I go back to my old package.

What package do you pay for exactly? No such thing as a "extended" package. Do you mean Starter and Essential?

From Cox's all digital policy: "A Cox-provided CableCARD together with a certified compatible CableCARD retail device may be used in lieu of a mini box."  I read that as any level of service that can use a minibox (starter or essential) can use a cable card.  I'm not sure what the extended package is but if you were getting service direct off the cable, you should be able to use a cable card.

I think the confusion may be with the "Economy" package which you DON'T get with a mini box but you DO get with a mini card as per FCC.
