Billing Increase

Hello,

I signed up for Cox High Speed Internet Preferred with PowerBoost back in January with a promotional rate that would be good for six months. At the time of signing up, I expressed my concern to the rep about paying higher rates after the six months were up, but he explained that Cox always offered deals that would allow me to call Cox once the six months were up to keep my bill at the same rate.

Fast forward six months later and my rates increased. I tried calling Cox and the reps I spoke to offered to add cable and other services I did not need to lower my internet payment - the overall payment still being higher than the new rates. I advised I really didn't want or need any new services and the rep became rude, almost unhappy I didn't want to add any additional services. I mentioned a flier I had received that offered to lock in my promotional rate for 24 months if I signed a contract, the girl said that offer was not available and that the only way she could help me is if I added the other services. I sucked it up and paid the higher internet rates up until now.

I was going to make my monthly payment today and noticed that my bill was even higher now. I tried calling Cox for an explanation but after being on hold for a long time, the call was disconnected. I tried calling again, and again I was on hold for a long time and no representative picked up. I finally gave up and hung up.  Online I see that the rates I paid last month (November) were already higher and it's the same for this month (December). I also noticed that my PowerBoost was dropped back in September and I don't believe I received any kind of notification in regards to this increase or my service being decreased. I cannot say I'm satisfied with Cox and I'm disappointed with the misinformation and service that has been given to me thus far.

When I signed up with COX internet at their lowest speed for $29.99 a month, I asked the COX associate for how long my bill would be that amount.  He emphatically said, "Forever!"  I inquired further, and he assured me that this was a fact.  I knew on its face that this had to be wrong.  No company could say that.  I wish that COX would instruct their associates not to make such promises.  This associate seemed very nice and sincere, like he really believed it himself.

A few months later my bill is up to $32.99.  I'm paying the higher amount without complaining to COX but there is no way I will let it just keep going up and up.  I will make other arrangements even if I have to go without the internet altogether.  I just need their lowest speed and no other services.

On another topic, one complaint I have is that I just finished paying all of my utility and credit card bills, and only with COX do I have to re-enter every month my checking account routing and account number.  Every other company conveniently retains this information for me.  I contacted COX by email and the COX representative replied that COX does not have this feature now, but I could use COX's Easy Pay.  I'm not interested in Easy Pay because my income is not high enough that I can be sure the funds would always be there at the precise time needed.  I'm sure COX can do better and I hope they will.
