Looks like this has been a problem for years...
Have a client who uses(used to until I switch him to Outlook) your webmail(coxmail.com). He no longer has the ability to backspace within it. Doesn't matter whether he was using Safari, Chrome, newest version of Java or Flash, same outcome.
Should probably fix your code, guys. It's past due.

Its not the site. I can log into webmail using IE11 using Flash 15,0,0,246 and can backspace fine. Also tried with Chrome 39 and had no problem in subject or email body.
Have you tried on your PC? Maybe try updating flash? I knew there was a problem with Chrome for a while because of the Pepper version of Flash plugin it uses, but that has since been fixed, at least for me.

Chrome and Safari are both webkit based browsers. Being that the issue is believed to be a webkit but at the core it is natural that both of these browsers would experience the same issue. A larger fix for webmail will be coming at some point in the future however in the meanwhile you could try using Firefox as a workaround.
